BSF (WHITWORTH FINE THREAD)

BSF (British Standard Fine) is a finer version of BSW (British Standard Whitworth) with more threads per inch (TPI), resulting in a stronger and more precise connection. BSF threads have the same 55° thread angle as BSW but with a finer pitch, making them suitable for applications requiring high strength and vibration resistance.

Characteristics:

  • Thread Profile: 55° angle
  • Thread Count: More threads per inch than BSW
  • Applications: Aerospace, automotive industry, precision machinery, vintage British engines and machinery
  • Advantages:
    • Stronger connections than BSW
    • Better resistance to vibrations
    • Suitable for thin-walled materials

BSF threads were widely used in British industry, especially in machinery and vehicles, but today they are mainly found in restoration projects and older mechanical systems.
