Thürmer Tools hand tap is a high-quality tool designed for creating internal threads in a variety of materials.
It is made from durable high-speed steel (HSS), ensuring long-lasting performance and precision.
The hand tap features a straight flute design that allows for efficient chip removal, making it suitable for both through and blind hole applications.
Available in different thread sizes and pitches, it is ideal for use in workshops, maintenance, and repair tasks. See the thread cutting table for more information regarding size, pitch and dimensions of the thread.
The hand taps come in 3 different configurations Taper, second (or plug) and bottom tap.
The taper is used to start cutting the thread. The smaller diameter of the threads at the end of the bit makes it possible.
The Second (or Plug) tap is for the main threading job. Can be use as the only tap tap make thead.
The bottom taps are used to finish off the hole especially for bottoms holes.
Each tap can make a full thread it is not necessary to use all 3 taps unlike serial taps. These are not serial taps.
If it is a bottom hole, its enough only to use the bottom tap. If it is a through hole any of the taps can make the hole.
Some machinists use the second tap all segments of the tapping job, but the tap is technically not built for that.
The taps are in singles or in sets. DIN Standard.
Use a tap wrench for the holding the tap. The holder has an ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip, enhancing control and accuracy during use.
